16.2 H Bay Gelding - 8/24/08

16.2h, 15 years young, bay gelding.  He has been there, done that.  He jumps anything you point him at, is quiet over fences and on the flat.  His ground manners are excellent.  He will trail ride out on his own or in a group.  He is very pretty, super sound and talented.  He swaps leads, leg yields, etc.  He would make a great pony club mount, eventer or trail horse.  He would also excel in dressage, I think.  Very easy to handle, a real tryer - he loves to please.  $4000 Good home only! (Note that the rider in the photo is 6'3"  -- he is a true 16.2 hands.)  Email Joanie or call 763.576.9608.

Talented Welsh Cross Pony for Sale - 8/20/08

Whisper is a 13.2 hand Welsh/QH mare.  She is thirteen years old.  I am selling her because I have outgrown her.  Whisper would be a perfect "starter pony" for a confident beginning rider!  She jumps 18" easily, and can jump more (2 feet).  She has nice form over jumps!  She really enjoys jumping, and is fun to jump. In dressage, we are schooling half-pass and shoulder-in, along with working on extension and collection.  Whisper absolutely loves cross-country and trail rides.  She would also be a great lesson pony.  We think that she would enjoy games.  Whisper has easily taken me through my D-2. She loads, clips, bathes, stands for farrier, ties, is UTD on shots, and has a current neg. Coggins.  Whisper has about a year of western training and neck reins happily too!  She is an amazing all-around pony!  Price: $2000 OBO, price negotiable to right home.  If you are interested in Whisper, please call 715-294-4273 or email Mary Willis.

FINNBAR NEEDS A GOOD HOME! - 7/14/08

Piper's Finnbar is homebred 6 yr. old 15.2 hand gelding, chestnut with stockings and a blaze.  His sire is Denny Emerson's Reputed Testimony, TB, and his dam was Rosie XX111, who I purchased in England and turned into a broodmare after she could no longer hunt.  I got seven foals out of Rosie, all nice.  She was an Irish Sport Horse with substance, who unfortunately died of colic three years ago.  Reputed Testimony is a small but powerful TB.  Finnbar got more of his dad's confirmation because he has fine bones, is narrowly built and only 15.2.

He was born in Colorado to a surrogate mare and came to Minnesota upon weaning in October 2002.  He has been brought on carefully and correctly.  He has very good gaits and a nice jump.  However he will need someone who can ride because he is green and he gets very lazy.  And his rider will need a good coach to allow him to develop.

The reason I need to find him a home is he will never foxhunt for me.  He is too small and he has some compromises in soundness.  Dr. Nicholas Ernst, at the U of M, assures me he can have a nice career as a hunter or dressage horse but he will not hold up to pounding on hard ground.  He is too nice a horse to break down if I used him for the next several years as a guest horse.

I have injected his hocks, because there are changes.  I have years of x-rays, all of which can go with him as a baseline.  I have had many horses in my life and it is a gamble with hocks.  Some horses go for years with the x-rays Finnbar has and yet some only last a few years.  I make a commitment to a horse for lifetime so if he was ever to breakdown, I would want him returned.

He can be seen at Owl's Nest Ranch, Michelle Stephens, Maple Plain, MN.
